Glass Repair Service
Here at Colchester Motorglass we take pride in our glass repair service conforming to BS AU 242A 1998 standards. These guidlines set out when a windscreen should be repaired or replaced
Zone A area 290mm wide, centred on the steering wheel, bound by the the wiped area above and below, damage contained within a 10mm diameter is repairable.
Zone B drivers wiped area, excluding zone "A". Damage contained within a 15mm diameter is repairable.
Zone C passengers wiped area, excluding zone "B". Damage contained within a 25mm diameter is reparable
Zone D all areas excluding zones AB and C. damage contained within a 40mm diameter is repairable.
Chip Repairs should not be repaired within 100mm of each other
Windscreen chip repair works by injecting a clear, acrylic resin into the damage under pressure, then polishing the resin flush with the screen after a curing process. This will leave the area fully sealed thus prolonging the life of your windscreen. A successful repair can also satisfy and meet M.O.T. pass criteria. If you get a chip in your screen, don't delay in calling us, unless fixed right away, they can worsen very quickly in extreme weather conditions.
